With the aggressive release of 5G networks by both Jio and Airtel access to 5G has become common in most areas of India and in addition to faster download and upload speeds a new feature that is introduced is VoNR(Voice over New Radio) which is an evolution of VoLTE that was introduced during the roll out of 4G networks.
VoNR according will allow networks to use 5G infrastructure to make calls rather than falling back to 4G VoLTE bringing better sound quality with minimal latency using latest codecs and allow service providers to launch 5G only networks as Jio did with 4G reducing cost of deployment if they want to do so. As some network providers want to shutdown the 2G, 3G networks, this will allow them to shutdown older generation networks once the number of users fell beyond a point.
